Lyrics of Kettena Unnai kettena from the movie Desam with Meaning in English

Song: kettena unnai kettena
Movie: Desam
Singers: Sadhana Sargam & Aslam
Musician: A.R.RAHMAN
Lyricist: Vaalee

Did I, tell me, did i ask you to love me?
Wont I, wont I give me (my heart) myself voluntarily?
(Ur) Eyes transformed into fingers to touch me
[Indian lovers are bit weird compared to their western counterparts.
They keep a distance till marriage. So in public after marriage.]
Lost are words (forgot my language) as and when (your) eyes touched (me)
Tell me why am I getting thin nowadays?

There, you sweetened my senses when i smeared my fingers in flame,
R u the Kannamma of the poet who wears a turban?
Among the lessons I hed from science, there is no wonder like you,
science stand still blind-folded (All laws break at the point of singularity)
Am I that guy called EINSTEIN? I can't, I am unable to, do a research on you
Are you a new born star? Please don't leave this world, don't ascend to sky
Flowers blossom without water and root, is it love a magic?
Without words, without rhythmic patterns, is it love a poem written and sung by (our) eyes?
Adam ate the fruit of literature, there, that day itself germinated (as a plant) love
In the form of literature said (gave) Khayyaam [Omar Khayyam-persian poet 12th century] beautifully grown (into a tree)love
when a stone is thrown into water it makes circles. Like taht, oh Dear, I saw circles (of disturbances, love) inside me (in my heart)
(Yes) I threw my eye, darling as a stone. Inside (in my heart) formed love aurora (circle)

With flint stones we make and keep fire
With matchbox eyes (ready to catch fire when friction is applied) U made fire ( of love, desire)
Like camphor kept open in air, i dissolved into you
I have no address of my own, I became a shadow of you
On pronouncing your name repeatedly, my mouth water became Tamizh water
Than why can't you write and sing poem on me?
A poerty can't trap your beauty (you know)
[she takes time to realize that he tries to escape]
Who else can tell lies like you in this wilder world?

I searched for the lyrics explanation after being mesmerized by the song. Thank you for your blog. After Unnai Kelai this is my favorite song, Vali's lyrics have layers and combined with Rahman's music, you can get lost in its depth.
